2018-19 Staff Senate Nominations Open

If you want to be part of one of the most influential groups on campus, or know a staff member who should be involved shaping policy and procedures to better the working environment of the University of Arkansas staff, your chance to act will soon be just a click away.

Nominations for Staff Senate positions are open at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, for all full-time staff members. Nominations will close on Monday, April 16, at 5 p.m. To nominate, please go to Qualtrics Log-in page. You will be asked to input your UA email address and UA ID number (not BASIS ID) to begin. Once verification is established, your division and at-large nominations can continue. Links will be supplied within the form listing all potential nominees for the area(s).

All 100 percent appointed staff members will be able to select staff from their division and at-large categories or even nominate themselves for a position. Nominees are required to have worked for the university for a minimum of one year and have the support of their supervisor.

Staff Senate time commitments include one meeting per month with additional involvement in occasional sub-committee meetings and service throughout the year, including the annual Staff Celebration Picnic in the spring and Staff Appreciation Week in the fall. Those who want to run this year should promote themselves within their division — let people know you want them to nominate you. Individuals with the most nominations within their category will be placed on the election ballot if they accept the nomination, and elections will be announced shortly after nominations close.

Nominees who accept candidacy may submit a statement and photo so that the campus community can review candidates on the Staff Senate website. This will be available after the nomination period closes and through the election cycle, Wednesday, April 18, to Tuesday, May 1.

The following positions are open for this year (all three year terms, unless otherwise specified):

  • Five openings in the Academic Affairs Division (one opening is a one year term)

  • Three openings in the Student Affairs Division (one opening is one year, another two years, and the third three years)

  • Two opening in Chancellor/System

  • Two openings in Finance and Administration, including FAMA, UITS, UAPD, Transit and Parking.

  • Two openings in Agriculture

  • Two openings in the At-Large category, meaning any staff member from any division may be nominated.
