Call for Proposals: Summer Stipends to Support Humanities Research

The Humanities Program of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will award three 2018 summer stipends to humanities specialists in the college. The $5,000 stipends are meant to support research and publication efforts. The competition is open to 100 percent-appointed faculty members (non-tenure track, tenure track, and tenured) in traditional humanities disciplines.

Please submit a CV and a three-page, double-spaced proposal that addresses the following:

  • A scholarly justification for the project, including major argument, methods, and work plan. Strong proposals will clearly demonstrate the significance of the project, including its value for humanities audiences.
  • A work plan that demonstrates what will be accomplished during the one-month stipend period.
  • An explanation of your expertise and skills in the area of your project.
  • A description of the final product, the audience, and how the product will be disseminated.

Proposals and CVs should be submitted electronically to ksloan@uark.edu by 5 p.m. on May 1. A committee of humanities faculty members will make award decisions in mid-May.
