Johnson Named Co-Director of Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center

The Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center is pleased to announce that Don Johnson has accepted a three-year term as co-director, joining continuing co-directors Lori Holyfield and Jack Kern. Johnson replaces Mary Savin who will complete her three-year term as co-director in August.

Johnson is a professor in the Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Technology where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural systems technology. His research focuses on agricultural technology and on teaching and learning in technical subjects. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in agriculture from Western Kentucky University and a doctorate in agricultural education from the University of Missouri.

Johnson is completing his 25th year at the University of Arkansas. During this time, he has received numerous teaching awards including the Arkansas Alumni Association Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award for Teaching and Public Service and the Dr. John and Mrs. Lois Inhoff Award for Outstanding Teaching and Student Mentorship. Johnson was inducted into the University of Arkansas Teaching Academy in 1999 and served as president from 2014 to 2016. He currently serves on the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, the All-University Academic Integrity Board, and as vice-chair of the University Committee on Appointment, Promotion and Tenure. Johnson was inducted as a Senior Fellow of the American Association for Agricultural Education in 2013.
