European Union Law to Affect U of A Student, Employee Travel Abroad

In compliance with the newly implemented European Union General Data Protection Regulation, University of Arkansas students and employees who travel to or are in the European Union on university business will be asked to give their consent to use their personal data, including contact information.

The EU law, which went into effect May 25, standardizes policies related to the collection, processing and transfer of personal data generated in the European Union.

A university committee is working to determine how broadly the law will impact individuals and operations associated with the university. At present, students and employees who plan to travel to the European Union on university business must complete a consent form prior to their travel.

More information about the law and how it effects the University of Arkansas can be found on the university's General Data Protection Regulation webpage or by emailing uagdpr@uark.edu.
