All University of Arkansas faculty, staff and administrators are invited to join the monthly Queer Beers LGBTQA Happy Hour.

The next event will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at Black Apple Crossing in Springdale. "Typically these happy hours are held in downtown Fayetteville, but we decided to venture further afield from the university during the more flexible summer months so that we can see more of what Northwest Arkansas has to offer" said Alex Dopp, one of the event organizors and an assistant professor in the Department of Psychological Science within the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

Attendees do not need to identify as LGBTQ to participate — all queer folk, partners, friends and allies are welcome. The goal of the happy hour is to build a more visible community and network among faculty, staff and administration as well as provide social support.

"We want to bring people together from all across the university and surrounding Northwest Arkansas community that might not otherwise meet or might not have the space to meet," said Justin Barnum, another event organizor and an instructor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice.
