Workshop Prepares Professionals for Amazon Web Services Certification Exam

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Professionals can prepare for an Amazon Web Services certification exam and learn the foundations of cloud computing, storage and networking on Amazon Web Services at a four-day workshop beginning July 17 at the Global Campus in Rogers.

The Amazon Web Services Certification Program also will cover the fundamentals of building an information technology infrastructure on the Amazon Web Services platform.

Participants can register online for the workshop set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 17‑20 at the Global Campus in Rogers, 3300 Market St. The cost is $199 for Arkansas residents and $299 for out-of-state residents. A 10 percent discount is available for University of Arkansas faculty, staff and students.

Arkansas residents pay a reduced rate for this workshop and other IT Readiness Program offerings thanks to an $851,062 Regional Workforce Implementation grant from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. The Global Campus grant application identified information technology as a skills gap in Northwest Arkansas and proposed the IT Readiness Program to help close that gap.

“Our goal is to make it easier for Northwest Arkansas professionals to get timely training closer to home,” said Tara Dryer, director of training, corporate development and academic outreach. “The Amazon Web Services workshop will provide professionals with another tool to harness the power of information technology in the workplace.”

After the workshop, participants can go to the Amazon Web Services certification website to register for the Solutions Architect Associate Certification exam. The cost is $150, which is not included in the workshop fee.

Other workshop benefits and outcomes include:

  • Become more proficient in identifying Amazon Web Services to make informed decisions about information technology solutions
  • Understand how to optimize the use of these services and how they fit into cloud-based solutions
  • Learn to lead information technology initiatives in an organization

Amazon Web Services is a secure cloud services platform that offers computing power, database storage, content delivery and other functionality to help businesses scale and grow.
