Drone Pilot Training Class Offered in Little Rock July 16-20
The University of Arkansas will offer a four-day Drone Pilot Training workshop in Little Rock July 16-20.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Drone pilots — professionals and hobbyists alike — can register online for a four-day Drone Pilot Training workshop to learn how to fly safely and legally, preparing them to take a Federal Aviation Administration unmanned aircraft certification exam.
The unmanned aircraft systems class will be offered by the College of Engineering through the Global Campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 16-20 with online study and in-person classes at 119 S. Main St., Little Rock. The course costs $799, not including the cost of the FAA exam. People attending must bring their own drones.
The workshop covers hands-on flying, interpreting weather data, planning a flight, reading maps, understanding airspace and using platforms to perform video and mapping tasks.
Richard Ham, class instructor and an associate director of two master’s degree programs at the College of Engineering, developed this workshop for professionals and hobbyists who want to become more proficient drone pilots.
The cost of the FAA Part 107 exam is about $150. Other course requirements are listed on the Drone Pilot Training website.
