Projects submitted for the Housing Northwest Arkansas Professional Design Competition

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The 25 projects submitted for the Housing Northwest Arkansas Professional Design Competition will be on display Aug. 20-31 in the Fred and Mary Smith Exhibition Gallery, in Vol Walker Hall, on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

An opening reception will take place at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20.

The design competition was the final component of Housing NWA, a three-tiered initiative led by the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design and funded through a grant from the Walton Family Foundation.

The competition challenged competitors to develop an innovative and practical proposal for building attainable housing at five different sites in Bentonville. Twenty U.S. firms and five international firms submitted proposals for the juried competition, and the winners were announced in May.

The five sites are on Third Street, Eighth Street, 14th Street, Central Avenue and John Deshields Boulevard.

More information can be found on the Housing Northwest Arkansas website.

Admission to the exhibition is free. The exhibition gallery is located on the first floor of Vol Walker Hall, and it is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
