Studying abroad in China offers students a blend of ancient history and modern marvels

China is home to some of the world's most ancient history and modern marvels, making it an ideal study abroad destination for students with a variety of interests.

variety of program options and funding resources are available for students interested in studying in China. Most scholarships and financial aid students receive may be used to study abroad.

The reasons to study in China are many, but here are five favorites:

The Great Wall of China

1. Not Lost in Translation

Programs offer courses in English and Chinese, so there is no language barrier to hold students back.

2. Where the Living Is Good

Beijing and Shanghai are ranked in the top 30 best cities for students, according to QS World University Rankings.

3. A World Wonder

The Great Wall of China is the largest human-constructed structure in the world, stretching more than 13,000 miles. Visiting this wonder of the world is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students.

While in China, students may have the chance to see the famous Giant Panda, which is native to the country's Yangtze River region.

5. The Highest Hill

The summit point of Mount Everest runs across the international border between China and Nepal. Many students who study in China take advantage of the opportunity to visit the base of the world's highest mountain.

Students interested in learning more about study abroad should:

  • Attend drop-in advising at the study abroad office, from 3-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
  • Stop by the Study Abroad Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the Arkansas Union.
  • Meet with your academic adviser to discuss how study abroad fits into their academic plan.
  • Have a valid passport — Passport Services in the Arkansas Union can help.
