The Lyrique Quintette, which is the faculty woodwind quintet in residence at the Department of Music in University of Arkansas' J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, is leaving today, Monday, Aug. 27, on a tour of Spain.

The quintet was invited by the International Double Reed Society to perform at the 47th Annual Conference in Granada this week. Performing at the Sala Falla of the Palacio de Congresos, the quintet will perform a special program on Tursday, Aug. 30 called "Arrivals and Departures: Music of the Americas."

In addition, the quintet was invited by the Embassy of the United States to perform their program as part of the 60th anniversary commemoration of Fulbright Exchange Program between Spain and the United States. This program will take place in Madrid at the Instituto Internacional on Sept. 4.

For their concerts, the quintet will be including two newly commissioned works. One is by University of Arkansas composer Robert Mueller, and the other is by grammy-nominated composer Miguel del Aguila.

All of the works for the programs are on the quintet's newly released CD, Arrivals and Departures: Music of the Americas, released by Mark Custom.
