The second annual Bike Safety Block Party will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Fulbright Peace Fountain. The University of Arkansas Office for Sustainability has organized the event to raise awareness for bicycle safety and encourage proper etiquette when riding on campus.

"We are very happy to see such growth in cycling on campus and we expect to see another big boost in ridership with VeoRide bike share launching with 340 bikes next month," said Dane Eifling, coordinator of university bicycle and pedestrian programs. "There is more need than ever for safety and education for people riding bikes, walking or driving," says Eifling.

Attendees at this year's event will be able to demo the new VeoRide bike share bikes. Those who bring their bike to the event can get a free bike safety check form a professional bike mechanic and a free registration.
