It's National Preparedness Month - Are You Prepared for an Emergency?

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – September is National Preparedness Month and the University of Arkansas Police want to remind you to take the opportunity to prepare yourself  and your family for any emergencies and hazards that our community may face.  This is the perfect time of year to take a first aid class, update your disaster kit, or start your emergency savings account.

Our campus faces many different types of hazards, including severe weather, fire, and active threat events. It takes the entire campus community working together to ensure resiliency after a disaster.  This is why we are asking the campus community to do at least one of the following things to become better prepared:

• Become familiar with emergency preparedness information found on the Campus Safety website.
• Learn two ways out of all buildings you occupy on campus.
• Download the free RAVE Guardian app to utilize the safety features.
• Ensure you are signed up for RazALERT emergency messages through UAConnect or WebBASIS. 
• Schedule or attend the Preventing Campus Violence training or other emergency type training.

The U of A Division of Emergency Management is celebrating National Preparedness Month by distributing emergency information flyers to all buildings on campus so emergency information can be readily accessible when needed.  This flyer can also be found on the Campus Safety website under Emergency Preparedness.
