Tip-off Event Set for U of A United Way Campaign on Union Mall Today

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Everyone in the University of Arkansas community is invited to the tip-off for the 84th annual U of A United Way campaign from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 on the Union Mall.

In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors to the Arkansas Union Connections Lounge.

Chancellor Joe Steinmetz, Razorback cheerleaders and mascots, campaign volunteers and a representative from the United Way of Northwest Arkansas will be on hand to get the campaign started. Snacks will be available, along with opportunities to show your support for the United Way.

“We want this to be a fun event – and we want to get the campus excited about this year’s U of A United Way campaign,” said Chris McCoy, the campaign chairman. “When ‘We’re United’ the people on our campus can do remarkable things to help children in Northwest Arkansas. United we will win.”

The U of A United Way campaign officially begins Monday, Oct. 1, and will wind up on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The campus goal for this year is to raise $125,000. The funds will go to the United Way of Northwest Arkansas to help fund 35 programs that help children and their families who are living in poverty in Northwest Arkansas.
