Food Science Department to Celebrate 50th Anniversary Today

The Food Science Department is celebrating 50 years at the University of Arkansas! You are invited to attend the department's 50th Celebration from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Don Tyson Center for Agricultural Sciences, 1371 West Altheimer Dr. 

The celebration will include a demonstration of street food trends, a brief history, alumni spotlight, reception and silent auction. Silent auction proceeds will be go to the Department of Food Science scholarship fund. Don't miss the Celebration!   

Street Food Trends and Meal Inspirations — 2-3 p.m.

Chefs will discuss global trends in street foods and prepare a tasting of  Vietnamese Lemongrass Pork and Vermicelli (Bun Thit Nuong) for attendees.(Alexa Mckay, chef, Retail Innovation, Tyson Foods Inc.; Thomas Wenrich, associate director, Food Service Culinary Innovation, Tyson Foods Inc.; and Michael Kinkade, research chef, Firmenich Inc.)

Past, Present and Perseverance — 3-3:40 p.m.

History of Food Science Department, Product Development competition winners and fundraising activities announced

Alumni spotlight — 3:40-4:30 p.m.

Food Science Department alum will give insights on how food science shaped their career in the food industry with a question and answer session. 

Reception — 4:30-6 p.m.

Join us for a reception in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Food Science Department. Attendees can bid on items at the silent auction to raise funds for Food Science Department scholarships. Appetizers will be served, and a limited open bar will be available
