Rick Carter has been named employee of the quarter by the University of Arkansas Global Campus.

Carter, who joined the Global Campus in 2015, is an administrative analyst in the financial affairs office. He is part of a three-person team that manages Global Campus financial transactions and administers U of A online tuition revenue. He works with students, faculty and staff.

The Global Campus recognized Carter in October for his exceptional accounting skills, strong work ethic, and outstanding customer service for internal and external clients.

"Rick works hard, he works long, and he's always smiling," said Donald Judges, vice provost for distance education. "We appreciate his professionalism and his expertise, as do the departments across campus who work with him."

A co-worker nominated Carter for the award, saying Carter had displayed remarkable patience as he overcame a mountain of reports that each held their own challenges. The co-worker said Carter always shares a smile and a kind word with fellow employees, interrupting his own work to help others.

"All of us face frustrations," Carter's co-worker said. "The difference is how we deal with them. … I can think of no one who displays the best qualities of Global Campus on a daily basis better than Rick does."

Carter accepted the award at an October staff meeting.

"Receiving the employee of the quarter award is such a pleasure, primarily because the nomination came from my peers," Carter said. "The Global Campus family is the best group of people I have had the privilege of working with. Our family is a close-knit group of people; they step up when another member is in need, whether the need is professional or personal.

"The different departments within the Global Campus work seamlessly together and view each department and team member as an equal," Carter said. "I believe this is what makes Global Campus stand out from the rest. The Global Campus teams are some of the hardest working people I know and to be nominated by them truly is a great honor."

The financial affairs office is one of the Global Campus units that support academic colleges in the development and delivery of online education and workforce development programs.

The Global Campus awards the employee of the quarter to recognize outstanding achievement and accomplishments that relate to the unit's goals and the U of A mission. The award winner receives a commemorative certificate and a monetary award.
