Training for Assistive Technology and Accommodations in Workplace

The Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance invites the campus community to attend one of the following sessions to raise
awareness for the National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Assistive Technology and Accommodations in the Workplace (2 sessions):

  • 9-10:30 a.m. or 1-2:30 p.m.
    Wednesday, Oct. 24, University House

The presentation will cover programs in Arkansas that can assist employees with accommodations in the workplace. We will also cover the accommodation process and go through case studies displaying how specific accommodations implemented in specific situations can reduce or eliminate barriers to employment and promote successful outcomes not only for the employee but also for the employer. The presenters will also provide resources.

A 30-minute interactive demonstration of equipment will follow each presentation.

Presenters: Nathan Winter, associate commissioner of access and accommodations within Arkansas Rehabilitation Services; Brad Marsh, rehabilitation program coordinator, Arkansas Rehabilitation Services.

After each session, Toya Williams, Compliance Officer/ ADA Coordinator, Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance (OEOC), will provide required training by discussing the University's Reasonable Accommodation Process.

In accordance to the Accommodations for Disabilities-Employment, Programs and Services Policy 203.1, supervisors/managers are required to attend an Americans with Disability Act-Reasonable Accommodation training every three years. Any supervisor attending this presentation can receive training credit to satisfy the training requirement.

To register for one of the sessions, visit the OEOC's October calendar at oeoctraining.uark.edu.

The OEOC engages with the campus community to proactively advance the University's initiatives and resources to create a more inclusive educational and work environment.
