Hearing from a Hog is a program of the Student Alumni Association.

The Student Alumni Association will host two alumni connection events during the month of November. The organization will feature the university's rich tradition of exceptional alumni through its "Hearing from a Hog" program.

This program offers SAA members the opportunity to meet with alumni in a casual small group setting, usually over a meal. The gathering is conversation-driven and students are encouraged to ask questions of presenters. Upcoming events include:

Derek Martin, director of program management at Ducommun Inc. (M.S.O.M.'13)
Wednesday, Nov. 7, 6-7:15 p.m. (dinner provided)
Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House, 491 Razorback Road

Martin will share information on the Masters of Science in Operations Management program here at the U of A and offer insights into how this program can boost your career in a variety of fields.

Beth Hall, owner of Beth Hall Photography (B.A.'99)
Wednesday, Nov. 14, 6-7:15 p.m. (dinner provided)
Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House, 491 Razorback Road

Hall will share her experience pursuing a career in freelance photography. She will offer valuable guidance to those pursuing artistic and/or entrepreneurial professional pathways.

One goal of the Student Alumni Association is to deliver a balance of college life and real-world preparations. Through "Hearing from a Hog" and professional development workshops, the association offers student members experiences outside the traditional classroom through personal connections with Arkansas alumni.

Events currently being planned for the spring include workshops on dinner and reception etiquette and a presentation on professional communication protocol in a digital world, as well as several more "Hearing from a Hog" events with alumni in the fields of public and media relations, apparel merchandising, human resources and entrepreneurship.
