5 Reasons to Study Abroad in Thailand
The diversity of Thailand's landscape and the juxtaposition of old and new make it a great study abroad destination
Thailand is home to ancient temples, modern industry, stunning beaches and majestic mountains — making it an ideal study abroad destination. Courses are offered in English and Thai, so no language barrier will hold students back.
Additional funding is available for study abroad. Most semester scholarships and financial aid may be used toward study abroad. Study abroad programs in Thailand offer an array of academic topics. The reasons to study abroad in Thailand are many, but here are five student favorites:
1. Land of Smiles
Thailand is known as "the land of smiles" within the heart of Southeast Asia.
2. Elephant in the Room
Thailand is home to a tenth of all animal species on the planet. This gives students the opportunity to volunteer at elephant sanctuaries, visit temples devoted to the monkey and snorkel with Whale Sharks.
3. Water Fight!
Songkran, Thailand's New Year, is celebrated with a country wide water fight.
4. Island Living
There are more than 1,000 islands in Thailand. The southern islands are considered among the top 10 dive sites in the world.
5. Monkeying Around
Thailand has hundreds of temples and festivals devoted to monkeys, including the Monkey Buffet held in front of the Pra Prang Sam Yot temple in Lopburi province.

- Attend drop-in advising at the Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange, Monday-Friday from 3-5 p.m.
- Meet with their academic advisor to discuss how study abroad fits into their academic plan.
