International Education Week Kicks Off Today
International Education Week kicks off with an International Bazaar at 11 a.m. today in the Arkansas Union.
The University of Arkansas will celebrate International Education Week November 12-16. The week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.
The week-long celebration will kick off with an International Bazaar at 11 a.m. today in the Arkansas Union International Connections Lounge. Several events and activities are planned during the week. The full list of events may be found on the International Education Week webpage.
Some events planned for the week include:
- International Dress Day - Nov. 12. Students, faculty and staff are invited to wear their favorite international clothing for this all-day event. An International Dress Day photo will be taken at 11 a.m. in the International Connections Lounge.
- Panamanian Cooking Class - 4:30-7:30 p.m., Nov. 13, AFLS Atrium. Panamanian students will share traditional foods from their country. Those in attendance will leave with the recipes to share with friends and family.
- Jersey Day - Nov. 15. Students are invited to wear a jersey or shirt that represents their favorite sports team or athlete.
- Dance Around the World - 7-10 p.m., Nov. 15, Holcombe Hall. International students will perform traditional dances and share foods from their cultures.
- Cultural Bites - 4:30-8 p.m., Nov. 12-15, Fulbright Dining Hall. International students will partner with Chartwells' chefs to share meals from their cultures Monday-Thursday evening during International Education Week.
The theme of the University of Arkansas' International Education Week is "We Are One: One world, one campus, one community." Students are encouraged to share experiences from the week and their international education stories on social media using #IEWOneUARK.
International Education Week is joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. It is part of the University of Arkansas' efforts to promote programs that prepare students for a global environment. The week is also an opportunity to attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.
