Center for Community Engagement Hosts SNAP Training Day

The Center for Community Engagement and the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Pantry will host a SNAP Training Day with the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance on campus Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Wellness Center on Garland Avenue.

The Supplemental Nutrition Plan, or SNAP, is a federal program that provides low-income Americans and their families with access to food. The upcoming sessions include two application trainings that cover the application process, general requirements and specific requirements for students; along with a clinic for those interested in applying.

Register for application trainings, which start at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., go to givepul.se/4pb8d. The clinic is free and open from 2 to 4 p.m. These sessions are available for students, faculty, staff, administrators and anyone else interested.

SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, is run through the United States Department of Agriculture and administered by Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Volunteers will guide applicants and answer questions, but only the Arkansas Department of Human Services can determine eligibility and benefit amount.
