AudioCodes desk phones and Polycom conference phones will be among the options available for campus users in the spring.

In February 2019, a new digital communications solution known as Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) will begin rolling out on campus.

During this week's IT Services Brown Bag lunch, Stephen Herzig, IT Services director of enterprise systems, will present the new features of the VoIP solution and provide a project timeline. Participants are invited to bring their lunch and join in person from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in Arkansas Union 510-511 or online with WebEx.

Also this week, faculty, staff and students will have the opportunity to view the new VoIP phones as part of a hands-on demonstration. Desk and conference phones that have been selected for this project will be on display:

  • Thursday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Arkansas Union Tech Spot Computer Lab
  • Friday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the TIPS Center in Gibson Annex

As part of the Achieve IT: Unified Collaboration project, VoIP will replace the current analog phone system, which has been in place at the university for more than 20 years. This new technology offers many new features for users including voicemail to email, follow-me phone and more.
