Northwest Arkansas Startup Weekend: Maker Edition to Be Held This Weekend

Techstar's Startup Weekend is returning to Northwest Arkansas on Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, in a weekend tailor-made for makers.

The Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Arkansas is a community partner for Startup Weekend and hosted the 2017 event at the Brewer Family Entrepreneurship Hub.

This fall's Northwest Arkansas Startup Weekend: Maker Edition will be at the HFA Design Lab in Bentonville. It is the place for new and experienced entrepreneurs to pitch ideas, recruit a team, create a prototype, validate a business model, and receive feedback from experienced entrepreneurs, all in one weekend. This year's event is focused on developing physical products and solutions, so teams will have access to circuit boards, microcontrollers, prototyping materials, CNC machines, 3D printers, soldering kits, and other supplies to bring their ideas to life.

Participants are expected to bring enthusiasm, a laptop, and an idea they have not previously worked on. They will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and listen to others' before voting on the most exciting and forming teams with diverse skill sets. Students are encouraged to register, with or without teammates.

Techstars Startup Weekend is a weekend-long experience. A ticket includes:

  • 7 meals

  • One-on-one time with mentors

  • Access to a talented network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs

  • All the internet and coffee you can consume.
