Morimoto Elected Committee Chair for Sociologists for Women in Society

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Shauna A. Morimoto, an associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Arkansas, has been elected to serve as the Career Development Committee Chair for Sociologists for Women in Society. The committee focuses on professional development and mentoring of academic and non-academic sociologists at all stages of their careers. Morimoto is looking forward to her leadership role, noting that the committee’s charge “dovetails perfectly with my academic interests and work that I find personally fulfilling.”
Sociologists for Women in Society is the leading professional organization dedicated to advancing the rights of all gender minorities through sociological research and activism.
Morimoto and other newly elected chairs will assume their duties in Feb. 2019 during the group’s winter meeting in Denver.
