Northwest Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair Set for March 4 in Union Ballroom
More than 250 fifth-12th grade students in schools from 15 counties in Northwest Arkansas will compete Monday, March 4, in the Northwest Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
University of Arkansas faculty and graduate students will serve as judges for the fair, coordinated by Shawn Bell, director of the university's Center for Mathematics and Science Education. The public is invited to view projects and explore the Earth & Space Festival from noon to 3 p.m.
What: Northwest Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair
When: Judging takes place from 9 a.m. to noon; award ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. Public viewing is open from noon to 3 p.m.
Where: Arkansas Union Verizon Ballroom
Other Information: Categories for judging are animal sciences, behavioral and social sciences, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, chemistry, computer science, earth and planetary science, energy and transportation, engineering: electrical/mechanical, engineering: materials/bioengineering, environmental management, environmental sciences, mathematical sciences, medicine and health sciences, microbiology, physics and astronomy, and plant sciences.
Senior Division winners advance to the state Science and Engineering Fair in Conway in early April. Overall Senior Division NWARSEF winners and their teachers will be sponsored to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix in May.
