Bumpers College Clubs Hosting Annual Lawnmower Tune-Up Fundraiser
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Agricultural Mechanics (Ag Mech) and Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT) clubs will be hosting the annual Lawnmower Tune-Up fundraiser March 8-9.
The event will take place at the Abernathy Agriscience and Technology Education Center, 1194 W. Cassatt Road, off Garland Avenue, approximately two miles north of the U of A campus.
Individuals interested in the Lawnmower Tune-up can drop off push style lawnmowers and weed eaters between 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, and from 7-9 a.m. on Saturday, March 9. All mowers must be picked up by 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Customers will be notified by phone when their mowers are ready for pick up.
Services provided for push lawnmowers will include blade sharpening, oil change, filter and plug cleaning or replacement and external wash. Lawnmowers will cost $35 for standard parts and service. Weed eater service costs $20, and includes filter and plug cleaning or replacement. All lawnmowers and weed eaters must be in working order at drop-off
"This has been a successful fundraising event for our RSOs since 2004," said Casandra Cox, agricultural communications instructor at the U of A. "It is a great way for our students to get practical experience while providing a service to the NWA community."
"This is an easy, convenient way for folks to get ready for mowing season," said Don Johnson, professor and Ag Mech Club adviser. "It's one less thing for our customers to worry about this spring."
The Ag Mech and the ACT clubs work together to host the Lawnmower Tune Up fundraiser, and proceeds are used to support professional and educational activities for the clubs. The Ag Mech club is an educational, professional development organization for students who are interested in agricultural technology and mechanization. ACT is an organization designed for students with an interest in agricultural communications and leadership which provides them an opportunity to interact with others who have similar professional interests at the local, regional and national levels.
