Chile's diverse landscape makes it an excellent study-abroad destination

Bordered by the Andes mountains on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west, Chile offers students a diverse landscape to explore.

From urban centers to village communities and everything in between, students can take a wide variety of courses in both Spanish and English.

Program options are available for students from all majors. Additional funding is available for study abroad. Most semester scholarships and financial aid may be used toward study abroad.

1. 2,653 Miles

That's how long Chile is. It is the longest country in the world.

2. The San Francisco of South America

Chile's coastal town Valparaiso is often dubbed the San Francisco of South America. Cable cars travel up the city's maze of hills to give way to ocean views. Colorful murals line every street. And the Bohemian culture often provides artistic inspiration.

3. Like Mars, Only Closer

Chile is home to the Atacama Desert, which is the driest place on earth. The desert's conditions are the closest thing on earth to the environment on Mars, so the desert is frequently used to conduct Martian research.

4. Salt of the Earth

Salar de Atacama is the largest salt flat in Chile. It is surrounded by volcanoes and mountains, making for rugged landscape views.

5. The Mountains Are Calling

The Andes mountains trace the entire length of Chile and offer a great opportunity for skiing and hiking.
