UAPD to Host Mid-America Law Enforcement Conference on Campus

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Police Department will host the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators’ Mid-America Conference from Sunday, March 31 – Wednesday, April 3 on the U of A campus.

This is the second year in a row that the university has hosted the conference. 

Law enforcement officers and security directors from colleges and universities in thirteen states will be attending the conference. There will be presentations on a broad range of issues, including use of force, the Clery Act, table top exercise development, mental health and technological advancements.

To get the word out about the conference, the UAPD partnered with students in the U of A collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association and Rebecca Miles, a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Marketing. The group contacted law enforcement departments in all of the higher education institutions in the mid-America region to provide details about the conference and invite them to attend.

UAPD officers will host tours of the campus during the conference, and also conduct training workshops. Officers from Arkansas and other mid-America states may be armed during the conference, but they should be clearly identified as law enforcement or security officers or officials.
