Crystal Bridges internships present an invaluable opportunity to gain professional experience in the museum field. Opportunities are available for undergraduate and graduate students in departments throughout the museum.

The Honors College will host a workshop on internships at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art at 5 p.m. today in the Honors Student Lounge (room 130, Gearhart Hall). All students on campus are invited, and all majors are encouraged to come learn about internship opportunities at the museum, in areas ranging from information technology to exhibition design.

Museum leaders will lead a discussion on the internship program, tips on submitting a successful application, and future internship opportunities at Crystal Bridges. Paid and unpaid internships are available, and interns may earn course credits.

Elanor Jones, an honors art history senior, currently interns with Art Bridges, an outreach program created by arts patron and philanthropist Alice Walton and administered by Crystal Bridges staff. The mission of the program is to share outstanding works of American art with smaller museums and galleries across the country, especially in rural areas that have limited access to art museums.

"I've gotten a lot of hands-on experience with the art world this semester," Jones said. "Since Art Bridges is a newer and smaller program, I've been able to take on some bigger tasks. I went in thinking I wanted to work in an art museum, and this has helped cement that idea - and that's really validating, especially at the end of my college career."

Light refreshments will be served.
