Chuck Mitchell has trained more than 200 people on the new VoIP phone system since February.

During spring break, an additional 850 campus phone numbers transferred to the new VoIP system. With more than one-third of campus (1,850 users) now on VoIP, it is important for faculty, staff and students to update their contacts and dialing habits.

To ensure seamless calling between the new VoIP phone service and the old AT&T analog service, individuals should place calls using all 7-digits (e.g. 575-2905). Faculty and staff using the old phone system will still need to dial 9 before entering the 7-digit phone number to call on campus. Once on VoIP, users will no longer need to dial 9 to place internal or external calls.

While the change to VoIP does remove the ability to place 5-digit calls on campus, once on the new system, users can search the directory for phone numbers and easily save contacts to a speed-dial key or favorites' list for quick access.

VoIP training videos are available to help faculty and staff navigate this change. All videos are less than two minutes and highlight some of the most common phone tasks including:

Additionally, in-person trainings highlighting VoIP phone and Skype for Business features are offered weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To date, more than 200 people have received VoIP training.
