U of A Rome Center 30th Anniversary Celebration to Be Live-Streamed April 4-5

The University of Arkansas Rome Center is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The center is hosting an academic conference April 4-5 in the Eternal City to mark the occasion.

A live stream of the events from the historic Palazzo Taverna will be available on the Rome Center webpage.

The conference topics are about the benefits of living and learning in a cultural destination like Rome. Rome Center students, alumni and faculty with ties to the Rome Center will make presentations.

John Ochsendorf and Mauro Canali will give keynote lectures at the event.

Ochsendorf is the director of the American Academy in Rome. He is also a professor of architecture and engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Canali is a professor emeritus of contemporary history at the University of Camerino. He is also an adviser to the American Academy in Rome.

The conference kicks off at 7:30 a.m. CST on Thursday, April 4. The full conference agenda is available on the Rome Center webpage.

About the Rome Center: The University of Arkansas found the Rome Center in 1989. It was originally established as a study abroad program for architecture students. The Rome Center now offers diverse program options across the academic disciplines. In addition to serving U of A students, the center serves students from six other universities and has academic partnerships across Italy and Europe.
