University Recreation is offering Beginner swim lessons for youth ages 5-12 during two sessions, one from 5:15-6 p.m. and the second from 6:15-7 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation pool. The session runs April 15 and ends on April 26. The cost is $50 for UREC members and $65 for non-members.

This beginner-oriented class expands students' locomotion, water adjustment, and safety skills. Participants will learn how to hold their breath underwater, float on front and back, glide, flutter kick, and begin coordinated arm and leg motion. Group swim lessons are offered only in the Spring semester. University Recreation also offers private swim instructions throughout the year for ages three and up.

In addition to swim lessons, members of the U of A community can book birthday parties in the HPER pool during regular hours of operation. Prices start at $50 per hour for facility rental and lifeguard staffing.

University of Arkansas students and UREC members are eligible to use the pool at any posted open swim time with valid ID. Non-members who have an active U of A affiliation (faculty/staff and Arkansas Alumni Association members) are eligible to register for swim lessons and facility rentals, but are not able to access the pool outside of specified lesson/rental times.
