Celebrate Grenada at Holcombe Global Series

Discover Grenada during this month's Holcombe Global Series.

The presentation starts at 8 p.m. today in Holcombe Hall's living room.

The evening will feature a presentation by junior Khalil Buckmire, an international student from Grenada, who studys geology and physics.

"I want people to learn about the culture and endless beauty of Grenada. Also, I'd like for this presentation to be an eye opener for individuals to know more about the Caribbean region," Buckmire said.

"It's the first presentation to be given on the island. It will be exciting and energetic, just like the culture of the country itself."

Grenada is a country in the Caribbean. There is a main island with six smaller surrounding islands. It is known as the "Isle of Spice" due to its large production of nutmeg.

"It is the friendliest and most beautiful island in the Caribbean," Buckmire said. "One of my favorite things about growing up in Grenada was definitely getting the first-hand historical and modern experience of carnival."

This event is open to all within the university community. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and engage with the presenters after the presentation. Samples of food will follow along with an opportunity to take photos.

Global Series is an on-going program with past spring programs including Panama, Turkey, Germany and Laos.
