Eric C. Shen, director of the Mid-Pacific Gateway Office in the Maritime Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation, will give a lecture as part of the Dan Flowers Distinguished Lecture Series, hosted by Mack-Blackwell Transportation Center and the MarTREC, the Maritime Transportation Research and Education Center.

Shen will speak on "Marine Transport and Goods Movement: Why Should You Know and Why Should you Care" from 4-5 p.m. Monday, April 15, in John White Engineering Hall Room 209.

The Maritime Administration provides critical marine transportation outreach activities at our major U.S. gateway ports. Under the leadership of the associate administrator for ports and waterways, 10 Gateway offices are the agency’s day-to-day presence throughout the Marine Transportation System. The Gateway offices are critical to the viability and effectiveness of the Maritime Administration and its future programs.

As the director of Mid-Pacific Gateway Office, Shen, P.E., PTP, CPE,  is responsible for delivering federal services to seaports and inland ports in Arizona and Southern California. The Gateway office supports the agency’s priorities on America’s Marine Highways initiative, port infrastructure development, improved delivery of federal services to the Marine Transportation System and ports through regular coordination and leadership with port stakeholders.
