Member of NSF National Science Board to Speak About Research Enterprise

Victor McCrary, a member of the National Science Foundation's National Science Board, will share his insights on the most effective and innovative ways to grow our research enterprise. He will speak from 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, in room 504 of the Arkansas Union. The lecture, titled "The Journey from Excellence to Preeminence: Growing the Research Enterprise — A Primer for the University of Arkansas," is part of the Research and Innovation Speaker Series.

McCrary is the vice president for research and graduate programs at the University of the District of Columbia. In this position, he leads the growth, development, direction and oversight of the university's research enterprise. He has held similar research leadership positions at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Morgan State University, and the University of Tennessee.

McCrary received his doctoral degree in chemistry from Howard University, a master's degree in engineering management from the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from The Catholic University of America. He is a former national president of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers, and a fellow of the American Chemical Society.
