Technology, History and Culture: New Short Talks Explores Relationship Between Ideas and Tech

The latest edition of Short Talks From The Hill, a podcast from the University of Arkansas, features Stephanie Schulte, associate professor of communication. Schulte, a historian of technology, traces the origins of things many of us take for granted, such as the value of technology, the privacy of our data and even why we call computers "desktops."

"I hope that tracing back that history, that culture or the politics of those ideas…helps us think about them as historical and not universal," said Schulte. "They didn't come from nature. They were created historically by a confluence of events. And I hope that that will help us be thoughtful about how we apply those ideas."
