Marilou Shreve, a nursing instructor at the University of Arkansas, was recently selected by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to participate in the 2019 AACN-Apple Digital Innovation Bootcamp: From Content to Action.

Shreve was among a small number of nursing faculty from across the nation to be selected. The event will be held June 24-27 in Austin, Texas.

Susan Patton, head of the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing at the U of A, said, "Congratulations to assistant professor Marilou Shreve. This was a competitive application process completed by over 200 nursing faculty and only 35 were selected to attend the boot camp. EMSON is educating the nursing workforce of the future, which means incorporating technology into the teaching-learning experience is a strategic priority."

A press release noted that AACN launched this initiative to provide new opportunities for nursing faculty to leverage the latest technology to enhance learning in the classroom, laboratory, online, and clinical settings. The highly-interactive event will offer sessions on preparing digital content, developing iOS mobile apps and multi-touch books, and creating an engaging learning environment.

Program participants come from 21 states plus the District of Columbia and represent an array of institution types, including small liberal arts programs, public and private schools, and large academic health centers.

"Rapid advances in technology are transforming both how students learn and how they are taught," Ann Cary, chair of the AACN Board of Directors, said in the press release. "I applaud those selected to attend this year's bootcamp for their commitment to leveraging the latest technology and digital innovations to foster a truly interactive learning experience for today's nursing student."
