LITTLE ROCK – Daniel Hintz will present a lecture at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at the Arkansas Arts Center, at 501 E. 9th St., in Little Rock. The lecture, titled "Placemaking: A Love Story," will follow a 5:30 p.m. reception.

This lecture is the last this season in the Architecture and Design Network's 2018-19 June Freeman Lecture Series. It will be provided in partnership with Studio Main.

Hintz is principal and chief executive officer of Velocity Group, an experience design, communications and development firm based in Bentonville that focuses on the human experience to energize and reinvigorate communities, private developments, nonprofits and businesses.

While well-designed and executed built environments help frame communities and set the stage for great places, it is the overall human experience that breathes life — and thus social, cultural and economic value — into cities and towns.

The lecture will introduce activation models and examples of crafted experiences that cultivate premium value, community affinity and consumer buzz.

Hintz lives in Northwest Arkansas, where he has served as executive director of Fayetteville Downtown Partners and Downtown Bentonville, Inc. He helped guide the renaissance of the downtown Bentonville district, transforming the area into a growing art, entertainment, culinary and entrepreneurial scene garnering national attention. He has worked on projects all over the state, as well as on multiple local, regional and state initiatives.

Projects include downtown master plans, regional placemaking initiatives, branding and marketing strategies, private development projects and tenant programming, event production, restaurant and hospitality concepts, public outreach and engagement, and public policy work.

Hints holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film from the University of Colorado Boulder.

The 2018-19 June Freeman Lecture Series is sponsored by the Architecture and Design Network with support from the Arkansas Arts Center, the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, the Central Arkansas section of the Arkansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and community members.

The lecture is free and open to the public, and no reservations are needed.
