Pat Walker Health Center is pleased to announce Mary Wyandt-Hiebert has been awarded the 2018 Outstanding Services and Leadership Award in the Established Professional Category by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.

Wyandt-Hiebert, who serves as the director of STAR Central and adviser for RESPECT, was selected for her significant commitment as an advocate for the profession of Health Education and Promotion, and for being a valuable resource for students entering the field.

"Overall, my career in health education has provided me with great opportunity to help others in various capacities. I cannot imagine a better path to have taken to be able to roved resources and create wellness opportunities for our great campus," said Wyandt-Hiebert. "It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as a leader in this field."

The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing first instituted this award in 2016 to highlight career achievements in implementing programs and policies that promote the role of Certified Health Education Specialists.

No stranger to professional accolades, Wyandt-Hiebert has continually been recognized for her dedication to helping students succeed academically and personally.

Last year, she was awarded the Ruth E. Boynton Award for Distinguished Service to the American College Health Association for her tireless efforts as a mentor and co-chair of the ACHA's Creating Guidance for Addressing Sexual Assault Task Force.

As co-chair, she was instrumental in developing the first-of-its-kind toolkit designed to help college campuses address sexual and relationship violence, as well as ACHA's position statement and guidelines that offer evidence-based practices and guidance to create trauma-informed systems of care.

"Dr. Wyandt-Hiebert has devoted her career to the well-being of our students and greater campus community for many years. Her intellect, professional expertise and sincere devotion to her work makes her appreciated and valued by many colleagues on our campus and beyond," said Mary Alice Serafini, associate vice chancellor for Student Affairs and health center executive director. "Dr. Wyandt-Hiebert's most recent recognition reinforces an already successful career for which she should be congratulated and honored."

Congratulations to Wyandt-Hiebert on the tremendous success and impacts made for the University of Arkansas campus.
