Spring 2019 OFS Interns

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas students interested in sustainability can make a difference through the Office for Sustainability internship program.

The paid internship provides students with the opportunity to reduce environmental impacts across campus. This includes projects designed to enhance active transportation, energy conservation, campus biodiversity, waste reduction, water conservation and student awareness of environmental issues.

Last semester, office interns had a direct impact on the Climate Resilience Assessment, a Water Action Plan focused on university water usage, the RSO Sustainability Coalition, the Discovery Bikeway, a Resident Hall Recycling Evaluation and a pollinator test plot. Students have also assisted in grant applications, volunteer events, panel discussions, social media, press releases and blog posts to raise awareness about relevant environment programs and issues.

The Office for Sustainability would like to give a special thanks to the student interns who have recently graduated and will soon be making impacts far beyond the U of A campus:

  • Jan Partain, horticulture
  • Brianna Warren, earth science
  • Lillie Haddock, biological engineering
  • Fischer Jones, accounting
  • Kristiina Ala-Kokko, biology

The Office for Sustainability internship program is made possible by the University of Arkansas Facilities Management department. Students would work approximately 15 hours per week, working around their class schedule and earning a competitive wage. If you're interested in applying for an OFS internship, please email a resume and cover letter to Eric Boles at eboles@uark.edu.
