CMS Operations Coordinator Earns CPP Designation
University of Arkansas Community Music School

David Owens, operations coordinator at the University of Arkansas Community Music School, has earned the Certified Program Planner credential. The designation is awarded by the Learning Resources Network (LERN), the world's largest lifelong learning organization.

The goal of the CPP program is to train those working in non-credit, lifelong learning organizations to improve the overall unit's productivity, service, and quality. Topics include needs assessment, curriculum development, finances and budgeting, program analysis, pricing and marketing, customer service, and more.

LERN's program information states: "When you see CPP behind someone's name, that person has achieved and maintained a level of knowledge and skills in lifelong learning programming that is the leading professional development standard in the field."

"We are excited that David has earned his CPP designation, and eager to see how his new skills further our mission," says Kim Jones, director of the Community Music School. "We strive to follow best practices as a lifelong learning, non-credit unit of the university, and the content of this credential fits perfectly with our philosophy of community service and effective stewardship."

The Community Music School is the outreach unit of the Department of Music, offering non-credit music education programs for all ages and ability levels. To learn about our ongoing programs and events, visit http://cms.uark.edu.
