The University Symphony Orchestra will be holding auditions Friday, Aug. 23, through Monday, Aug. 26. The USO auditions are open to all U of A students regardless of major.

Scholarships are available for string players. To apply for a scholarship, you must audition and complete a Department of Music scholarship application. All students who are already registered for orchestra, or who would like to participate in orchestra, must play an audition for seating.

To sign up for an audition, visit the George and Boyce Bilingsley Music Building and sign up on the list that is posted on Robert Mueller's door, Room 238. Do not email him asking for an audition time. The audition sign-up times wil be posted on Aug. 14.

Audition repertoire is: a solo of the student's choice and two contrasting orchestral exerpts. See the USO website for more information.

Students do not need to be music majors to participate in orchestra. The USO welcomes students from all disciplines, who play an orchestral instrument, to audition. The USO gives approximately four concerts per year, as well as accompany the opera once per year.

The USO rehearsal schedule is from 2:30 to 3:50 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

To register, USO is listed as MUEN 1431, 2431, 3431, 4431, 4631, 5431. Freshmen should enroll in the 1000 level, sophomores in the 2000 level, etc.
