Human Resources Announces the Fall Certificate Program Schedule

The certificate programs offered by the university's Human Resources Employee Development Team are free to attend and are designed to offer the flexibility to meet your work demand. The classes may be taken out of order and through several semesters. Once all coursework is completed a certificate will be issued.

The programs are designed to hone current skills or learn new ones to be able to advance in your career and make you an invaluable part of our organization. Human Resources has gathered subject matter experts to facilitate the classes and to provide you the resources you need for the future. All classes will take place in the Administration Building on the U of A campus at 1125 W. Maple St.

Supervisor Development Certificate Program

This program is designed to help employees improve their supervisory skills including: your role as a supervisor, making the best hire, onboarding new employees, communication skills, employee engagement, supervising multiple generations, managing time and projects, FLSA, general leave and FMLA, coaching, writing and delivering an effective performance appraisal, preventing campus violence, conflict resolution and the grievance process, and legal aspects of employee relations. There are 8 classes in total. Offered up to three times a semester. Starts Sept. 10.

Human Resources Certificate Program

This program is designed to help an employee improve their human resources skills including: the hiring process and posting positions, Title IX, diversity and inclusion, employment law, compensation, benefits, record keeping, privacy rights, employee relations and the opportunity to create a network of subject-matter experts as well as other University employees working in the HR area. There are 8 classes in total. Offered once a semester. Starts Sept. 18.

Administrative Assistant Certificate Program

This program is designed to help an employee improve their professional administrative skills including: customer service skills, time management, communication styles, written communication skills, active listening, hiring including new hire paperwork, introduction to BASIS, Razor Buy, Travel, PA7, University Resources, and a review of labor laws. There are 6 classes in total. Offered once a semester. Starts Sept. 5.

Professional Development Certificate Program

This program is designed to help an employee improve their basis professional skills including: writing a quality resume and cover letter, creating an introductory video of oneself, interviewing, communicating effectively, building a positive relationship with your boss, creating and delivering a presentation, and resolving conflicts. There are 6 classes in total. Offered once a semester. Starts Sept. 6.

Accounting Certificate Program

This program is designed to help an employee with any accounting role at the University of Arkansas improve their accounting skills including: proper maintenance of accounting records, general ledger accounting, cash handling and electronic payments, inventory and export controls, cost accounting, grant accounting, Treasurer's Office processes, and fraud. There are 7 classes in total. Offered once a semester. Starts Oct. 15.

PILOT of the Principles of Leadership Certificate Program

This program is designed to help any employee at the University of Arkansas improve their leadership skills including: leading vs. managing, history of leadership style theories, leading when not in charge, evaluation of leadership strengths, emotional intelligence, influence and collaboration, women in leadership, implicit bias, and networking.
