Live at the Five & Dime Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
FerMambo Valencia Latin Jazz Quintet
The "Live at the Five & Dime" outdoor concert series begins celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month a few days early, with the FerMambo Valencia Latin Jazz Quintet on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The concert is free and from 6-8 p.m. outside the Walmart Museum on the Bentonville square. The musicians are Darren Novotny (timbales), Jordan Strickland (piano), Matt Beach (trombone), Garrett Jones (bass), and Fernando Valencia (tumbadoras, director).
On Wednesday, Sept. 18, the series hosts another concert of Latin American music, with the Manguaré Trio. This trio includes Catalina Ortega (flute), Fernando Valencia (piano), and Fernando Sanchez (percussion).
"Live at the Five & Dime" is a collaboration between the University of Arkansas Department of Music, the Walmart Museum, and Downtown Bentonville Inc. The 25 concerts in this year's series run from April 24th to October 9th. The performances feature faculty, students and other artists connected to the Department of Music at the University of Arkansas, and overlap partly with the Wednesday Farmer's Market on the Bentonville Square.

Oct. 9 – University of Arkansas World Music Ensemble, directed by Nikola Radan
