Han Hu joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an assistant professor in August 2019. He received his B.S. in theoretical and applied mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2011, and his doctorate in mechanical engineering from Drexel University in 2016.

He was a postdoctoral research associate in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University before he joined the University of Arkansas.

Hu's research covers a broad span of areas including microstructure-enhanced boiling, wetting kinetics of liquid droplets, evaporation from thin liquid films, long-term robustness of surface structures, and machine-learning-aided atomistic modeling. His work is critical to the development of high-performance cooling technologies for microelectronics, hybrid vehicles and data centers, among others. His research has resulted in 21 journal publications, 34 invited seminars and conference presentations, 2 book chapters, and a patent grant.
