Flu Vaccine Now Available at Health Center; Walk-In Flu Clinic Hours Begin

Flu vaccines are now available in Allergy, Travel and Immunization Clinic at Pat Walker Health Center.

Students, faculty and staff can schedule their flu vaccine appointment by logging in to the Patient Portal or calling 479-575-7723.

The health center also offers walk-in Flu Clinic hours from 3-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Most insurance providers cover the cost of the flu vaccine! Remember to provide your health insurance card when checking in.

If not filing with insurance, the cost of the flu vaccine is $20 for students, and $50 for faculty and staff.

The Centers for Disease Control strongly recommends everyone aged six-months and older receive an annual flu vaccine. Getting vaccinated early is the best way to ensure you are protected throughout the entire flu season.

Make sure to take every day preventive actions to help stop the spread of germs around campus:

  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. Also use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects, especially countertops, doorknobs and electronic devices.
  • If you have flu-like symptoms, stay home from work/class until you are fever free for at least 24-hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine. See your primary care physician to help reduce the severity of the flu.

Have flu-like symptoms? Schedule an appointment with the health center at myhealth.uark.edu, or call 479-575-4451.
