Razorback Marching Band Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Halftime Show

This year marks the 31st anniversary of National Hispanic Heritage Month and to celebrate, the Razorback Marching Band will present a special halftime show during the San Jose State game on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx communities whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, as well as Central and South America. Sept. 15 is a ceremonial day in Latin America because it marks the independence day of five countries: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.

This vibrant show reflects the vast diversity of Latin music and will include music by classical composer Ernesto Lecuona, rock legend Carlos Santana, music from Pixar's "Coco" and medleys from Marc Anthony and Gloria Estefan. "This is one halftime show that is sure to get you on your feet and dancing. It has been a lot of fun to prepare this music, and we are excited to share it with everyone," says Director Benjamin Lorenzo.

Razorback Athletics and the Latino Alumni Society are offering a special discounted rate on football tickets for the game at www.arkansasrazorbacks.com with the promo code LOSRAZORBACKS19. We invite you to celebrate the myriad of cultures that make up our Hispanic/Latinx community on campus.
