Discover Japan During This Month's Holcombe Global Series

The presentation starts at 8 p.m. today, Sept. 24, in Holcombe Hall's living room.

The evening features a short presentation followed by a sampling of some traditional Japanese dishes.

Throughout history, diverse civilizations have found their way to Japan. This has resulted in a variety of influences on Japanese culture, but Japan has been able to maintain their own unique culture as time went on.

"There is more to Japanese food culture other than sushi," said presenter and student Shintaro Kawano. "Japan has variety and quality at a cheap price"

Japan is an island nation surrounded by the Sea of Japan to the East and the Pacific Ocean to the West.

"We are bringing Japan to Fayetteville! You can learn and try Japanese foods and culture. In addition, you can also try Japanese calligraphy and clothes called 'YUKATA.' Everything you learn tonight will make you eager to visit Japan," Kawano said.

This event is open to all within the university community. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and engage with the presenters after the presentation.

Global Series is an ongoing program, and Iran kicked off the event series for the fall semester.

About the Holcombe Global Series: The Holcombe Global Series focuses on new countries each month and gives international students at the University of Arkansas the opportunity to showcase their home country.
