HHPR Hosting Free Guest Speaker Series This Fall on Study Abroad, Concussion Research
The Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation is hosting a free guest speaker series on the University of Arkansas campus this fall.
The first speaker will be Deborah Tudge on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 10:40-11:50 a.m. in the Graduate Education Building auditorium, room 166. Tudge is the conference director for the University of Limerick in Ireland. She'll discuss resources for international students and faculty at her university.
Grace Burke, the principal at Scoil Ide Primary School in Ireland, will speak on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 10:40-11:50 a.m. in the Graduate Education auditorium. Burke will give an overview of the Irish education system as well as share about opportunities for U of A study abroad and internship experiences.
Also on Oct. 24, there will be two student panel discussions about Ireland trips.
From 3:15 to 4 p.m., previous U of A students who traveled to Ireland for a three-week, faculty-led study abroad experience will offer a panel discussion in the Graduate Education Building, room 343.
Immediately following will be a second student panel discussion from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Former U of A students who visited Ireland for month-long internships will be speaking and answering questions, also in room 343.
Melissa Womble, director of Inova Sports Medicine's comprehensive concussion program, will present on Friday, Nov. 8, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. She'll discuss concussion management and how using clinical profiles can guide individualized treatment plans. The location has not been determined.
