Campus Faculty to Discuss Proposed Changes to Drug-Free Workplace and Substance-Abuse Testing Policies

The fall 2019 meeting of the Campus Faculty will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Center 140. Stephen Caldwell, chair of Campus Faculty, and John Delery, vice chair, will be joined by Debbie McLoud, associate vice chancellor for human resources, and Bill Kincaid, managing associate to general counsel, to discuss proposed changes to the Drug-Free Workplace and Substance-Abuse Testing Policies.

The conversation will include, among other things, how these policies may interact with the 2016 Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act and the reasons for which you may be asked to submit to drug testing.

Faculty members will have an opportunity to ask questions and voice any concerns. Faculty are encouraged to review the existing policies regarding Alcohol and Drug use on campus [Faculty Handbook 4.5.G Drug-Free Workplace, Fayetteville Policies and Procedures 402.1 Background Checks and Substance Abuse Testing, and Board Policy 705.2 Possession and Use of Alcohol] before the meeting.

The Campus Faculty is an organization comprising all professors who have at least half-time faculty appointments and are either tenured, on a tenure track, or are instructors or lecturers in their third (or greater) consecutive year of appointment at the University of Arkansas. Campus Faculty meets regularly once each semester.
