Air Force Cadet Speaks About Inherited Sense of Duty to Nation During POW/MIA Recognition

On Sept. 20, the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks hosted the National Prisoners of War and Those Missing in Action Recognition Day. The brave men and women of the United States armed forces who were prisoners of war or are still considered to be missing in action, were recognized and honored in Arkansas and nationwide.
A joint Air Force and Army ROTC color guard opened and closed the ceremony where all branches of the Department of Defense were represented. Cadet Mason Westphal of Air Force ROTC delivered a highly impactful keynote speech.
Among those in attendance were Lioneld Jordan, Mayor of Fayetteville; Col. Anita Deason, advisor for military and veteran's issues in Sen. John Boozman's office; Capt. Martin E. Smith and Capt. Brian T. Hudson of the United States Air Force ROTC Detachment 030; and Master Sgt. Nicolas A. Neilson of the United States Army ROTC at the University of Arkansas.
